The IMSINH function returns the hyperbolic sine of a complex number in x+yi or x+yj text format.

  • This function was introduced in Excel 2013 and so is not available in earlier versions.

Syntax

=IMSINH(inumber)

Arguments

Argument Description
inumber A complex number for which you want the hyperbolic sine

Note: Use the COMPLEX function to convert real and imaginary coefficients into a complex number.

The hyperbolic sine of a complex number is calculated as:  

    \[    sinh(x+yi) = sinh(x) cos(y) - cosh(x) sin(y)i   \]
