The F.INV.RT function returns the inverse of the (right-tailed) F probability distribution, i.e. if p = \text{F.DIST.RT}(x,...), then \text{F.INV.RT}(p,...) = x.  

  • This function was introduced in Excel 2010 and so is not available in earlier versions.
  • The F.INV.RT function replaces the FINV function included in earlier versions of Excel.

Syntax

=F.INV.RT(probability,deg_freedom1,deg_freedom2)

Arguments

Argument Description
probability A probability associated with the F cumulative distribution
deg_freedom1 An integer specifying the numerator degrees of freedom
deg_freedom2 An integer specifying the denominator degrees of freedom

Problem What went wrong
#VALUE! Occurs if any of the supplied arguments are non-numeric
#NUM! Occurs if either:

  the supplied probability value is ≤ 0 or > 1
  the supplied deg_freedom1 or the supplied deg_freedom2 argument is < 1
