The GAMMA.INV function returns the inverse of the gamma cumulative distribution, e.g. if p = GAMMA.DIST(x, … ), then GAMMA.INV(p, … ) = x.

• This function was introduced in Excel 2010 and so is not available in earlier versions.
• The GAMMA.INV function replaces the GAMMAINV function included in earlier versions of Excel.

### Syntax

=GAMMA.INV(probability,alpha,beta)

#### Arguments

Argument Description
probability The probability value, between 0 and 1, for which you want to calculate the inverse of the Gamma distribution
alpha A parameter to the distribution
beta A parameter to the distribution. If beta = 1, GAMMA.INV returns the Standard Gamma distribution
