2023 Reading Challenges

I’m keeping track of my progress on the 2023 reading challenges here. I signed up for and completed numerous fabulous challenges in the past, but tracking that many books took a lot of time! For this year, I’m limiting myself to challenges that might push me out of my comfort zone or mix up my normal routine.

I’ve linked the challenge buttons to the signup/information posts if you’d like to join!

Best F/X Reading Challenge 2023

Challenges I’m Participating In

Bookish Resolutions Challenge (not available until January)

Hosted by Because Reading Is Better Than Real Life. I’ve had some vague goals for myself anyway, so formalizing them seems like a smart idea. With quarterly check-ins and a giveaway for an Amazon gift card, set 5+ bookish/blogging/writing goals. (#BookishRes2022)

  • Respond to all blog comments. My hope is to write a response but I can at least like your comments to acknowledge that I’ve seen and read them.
  • Review 75% of the books I read. That seems realistic. I’ll try to stop reading and start reviewing if I get 3 books behind. Sometimes I finish a few at one time or I’m out of town so I need to give myself a little leeway.
  • Journal every day, even if it’s just a few sentences. I’m trying to build a writing habit and this seems like a good place to start.

Classics Reading Challenge (2023 not available yet)

Tea and Ink Society is hosting this event. The Classics Club has been a good experience for me. To help me choose my next reads, I like the idea of monthly prompts.

  • January: A classic book that’s getting made into a movie or TV show (or has been recently adapted) I fudged on this prompt a bit and chose The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame since it was already on my Classics Club list.

52 Book Club Challenge

In the 52 Book Club annual challenge, 52 prompts are provided each year — matching each prompt with a book. Of course, this means reading 52 books throughout the year. It seemed like the perfect place to read more, connect with fellow book lovers, and have some fun!
